Perhaps we've finally reached the point of realizing we would do well WITHOUT a central govt. I mean, do you feel you need to be governed? It really doesn't work very well, we end up getting screwed every time, regardless of who is in office. The system is flawed.
Sure, there are lots of options as a matter of political theory and even actual history, and I've even written about some of them. But not as a matter of this election, which is what this particular project is about. FWIW, the implication that a system might be devised which was not flawed does not seem, to me at least, to be part of the human condition. Plato, Aquinas, Hobbes/Locke, Rousseau, Freud, Arrow -- we are condemned to live as best we might under flawed systems, pretty much regardless of scale.
Well, perhaps we're not going about it with enough creativity.
I, for one, do not have a need to be governed... And what is govt anyway? A way for SOME people to have a LOT of power over a WHOLE BUNCH of other people... How could we expect more than a handful to remain honest? I have a MP3 you might enjoy, Larken Rose, it's someone else reading but a verbal read of his book about govt. I'll put the link here, I'd be interested to get your reaction... But it's LONG, I listened for hours over TWO days, lol. But very compelling, I thought.
There ARE more than two choices.
